The animal welfare community sustained a heartbreaking loss on July 26, 2024 with the passing of Julia Stephens. A volunteer at our spay days and a HARP benefactor, Julia was a true humanitarian, toiling both for the welfare of animals and for abused women. Wherever she dedicated herself, she was a tireless trooper, and she got the job done. Quiet and polite and friendly and smart, Julia donated her limitless compassion and skills to less fortunate cats at our spay days. All of us at HARP grieve the loss of this warrior against animal and human suffering. On November 2, 2024, we honored her memory by fixing 25 cats.

Celebrate with us two dozen cats who've been set free from cycles of breeding and the associated suffering. Our thanks to the volunteers and donors who made this possible.
We'll never adopt our way out of pet overpopulation, so we focus on stopping the source of overpopulation through professional veterinary spay/neuter care . The number of animals we can help is directly related to donations. Please give what you can to help these less fortunate creatures. Call 662-292-0922 or email harp38668@icloud.com to volunteer.
If you would like to memorialize a beloved cat with a spay day in their honor, call us at 662-292-0922.
Twenty-eight cats were set free from cycles of breeding, fighting, and littering on April 27. Spaying one saves thousands! Spay/neuter is the only sustainable approach to improved animal welfare. Cats are just about the most prolific reproducers on the planet.
If a stray cat shows up at your house, get him or her fixed. Call your vet THAT DAY to schedule.
Even if the cat is already bred, fixing her right then to avoid a situation like this photo is the most humane action.
If you cannot afford to fix your cat, we'll likely be able to get him or her fixed for you at low cost of maybe even free. But call us when there is ONE cat please. A pregnant cat shows up at your home, we can fix her quickly. But if you insist the world needs more cats and allow her to deliver, that will cost 5-8 times more!--if she survives pregnancy and delivery and a few kittens live too. Unless you can pay that, consider the consequences of not fixing your cat, letting it get to this degree of overpopulation, which is an economic disaster for an owner or a charity like ours, and a frightful painful mess for the cats.
We made more progress against feline overopulation and suffering with a spay day on Sunday October 1! The cats send their thanks to all the volunteers and the veterinarian who helped them live happier and healthier lives! If you can help us help more cats, like these who live with a family in a tent, please call 662-292-0922. We need funds and volunteers!
"Our thanks to HARP! There is no way we would have been able to get them fixed without HARP!" exclaimed this family.
HARP fixed these cats who live with a family that lives in a tent.
